Casper R. Aarestad, 81, died January 26 in the local hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29 at 3 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Cooperstown.
Mr. Aarestad was born August 9, 1899 in Bald Hill township, son of the late Endre and Anna Aarestad.
He grew to adulthood and attended school in Griggs county, and was a graduate of the North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU) in Fargo. He was a merchant in Pillsbury for five years and farmed in Griggs county from 1925 until 1965, when he retired.
He was a member and trustee of the Zion Lutheran Church, past member of the Federal Land Bank, Griggs County Farm Bureau, Bald Hill school board and township, charter member of the Griggs County Crop Improvement Association.
He was married to Caspara Carlson in Moorhead, Minn., May 18, 1926.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William (Audrey) Hammer, Fallon, Nevada; Mrs. James R. (Sally) Thompson, Devils Lake, and Mrs. David (Janice) Vigesaa, Billings, Mont.; two sons, Everett Aarestad, Glendora, Ca., and Casper Aarestad, Jr., Cooperstown; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Russell (Lorraine) Barr, Cooperstown; a stepson, Harland Strand, Hannaford; a brother, Elmer, Aneta; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
