James joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and served in both World War II and the Korean War. When he left the Army, he joined C&P Telephone Co. where he worked for 35 years. He retired in 1978 and moved to Florida with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Tampa Bay Rays. He loved golf, animals, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara (Lemon) Alley; daughters Pamela Alley Hagan and Susan (Alley) Zak, sons-in-law John "Pat" Hagan and Dr. John P. Zak; grandchildren Alison Zak, Kevin Zak and Kara Hagan.
