FALLING TREE KILLS AREA MAN
A Jonesville Route 1 man was killed Saturaday afternoon when he was struck by a falling tree while cutting firewood.
Union County Corner Bud Harris said Donald Everette Long, 26, was cutting firewood with his father and two brothers.
Long was trimming a felled tree with his chainsaw when a tree being cut by someone else fell on top of him. He could not hear warnings because of sounds from his saw.
The wind, according to the coroner, apparently shifted the falling tree to Long's direction.
He was dead on arrival at 5:25 p.m. Saturday.
