Jay was born 5 months after his father passed away. He was the 11th child of Charles C Osborn and Leta Mae Hardin.
His mother Leta was ill with diabetes and was unable to care for the younger children. Charlie, Jay's oldest brother brought him to Weatherford TX at about the age of 1, so that he could be adopted by Paul Joseph Walker and Maude Harriett Oberhoff Davis Walker. Charlie was 12 or 13 at the time and rode the train from Pecos to Weatherford with young Jay in tow.

Jay had a very hard time growing up. His Pa loved him dearly but he never felt the love of a mother. This made Jay seem hard and mean at times. But he was really a very loving man. He had a giant heart when it came to children.

Christmas was his favorite time of the year. He would go over board with presents and always donated to the less fortunate.

Jay never had kids of his own. He married my mom,Helen Reddell who had 5 children. He was rough around the edges when it came to raising the children. It took for us to get grown to relize he was a good man and that he did everything out of love, even if he was a little rude the way he did it. He provided us with a home and love as best as he could. To him, we were his kids, not just step kids.
