Dennis McLendon was born in Montgomery County, Georgia, a son of Ephriam and Elizabeth McLendon. His father died about 1808-10, and his mother was appointed guardian for him and his brothers William and Lewis, Jan. 7, 1811. Dennis McLendon was married in 1822 to Martha Tison, born 1803 in Wilkes County, a daughter of Isaac Tyson, R. S. and his wife Elizabeth. Dennis and his wife Martha (commonly called "Patsy") had eleven Children:

4. John Wesley b.1828, m. (unknown). Lived in Laurens Co.
5. Berrien b.1820, m. (unknown)
Lived in Laurens Co.
6. John b.1822, m. (unknown)
Lived in Laurens Co.
7. Needham b. 1833, prob. died single
8. Isaac Tyson b. 1835, m. Elpha Smith,, dau of James C.
9. Dennis b. 1839, m. Nancy Roberson
Note: both him and his wife are buried at the McLendon Family Cemetery in Laurens Co
10. Ephriam b. 1842, m. Marilza Gillia, Oct. 5, 1875.
11. Burrell L. b. 1843, never m. Died Sept 26, 1864, of wounds, Winchester, Va. Lieut in Co. "K", 26th Ga. Regt. Buried Woodstock, Va.

Dennis McLendon settled after marriage in Laurens County, and lived there until about 1854 or 1855 when he removed to Clinch County. There he acquired lots of land 175, 195 and 196 in the 7th district (lands now in Atkinson County sine 1918), located on Red Bluff Creek. There he had a large plantation and farmed until his death
(Jan 1860) at age 60. He was buried in nearby Red Bluff Cemetery. His son I. T. McLndon, was the administrator on his estate. The widow survived and died in 1888, age 85 years.
