Kathleen M. Briggs passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 17, 2013 in her home.

She was born in Utica on May 31, 1963, the daughter of Constance J. Moran and the late Ronald W. Moran. Kathy was a 1981 graduate of Whitesboro High School. She attended Herkimer County Community College majoring in photography. Kathy worked for NY State for 20 years and has been a secretary at the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in the Pinefield Section for Children for many of those years. She also worked part time at the American Legion Post 229 in North Utica, and often volunteered at the Oneida County Public Market at the Railroad Station on Saturdays. She was a member of the Whitesboro Presbyterian Church.

Kathy's life revolved around her family. She was a dedicated mother whose children always came first; including many of her sons' friends, who always called her 'Mama Briggs'. She will always be remembered for those backyard bonfires at her home. She was the best friend a person could hope for and loved spending time with her many friends. To all who knew her, they will always remember a warm, caring and helpful woman with a great sense of humor and her unforgettable smile. She will be truly missed.

Her passing has been filled with profound grief and her family struggles to understand the sudden loss of our beloved Kathleen; daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. Thank you to all who have reached out to the family in our sorrow as word spread of her passing. While we may not be able to immediately respond to each one of you, please know that we are grateful for every message and calls of support and condolence. Kathy, there is a void in the universe today, in the hearts of every person whose life you touched and made brighter, and in the hearts of your family who have loved you most dearly.

Left to mourn her passing are her two sons, Phillip M. Briggs (currently serving in the US Army), and Donald W. Briggs and his fiancée Sarah Clickner, Albany, NY; her mother, Constance J. Moran, New Hartford; sisters, Deborah Lapoint, Utica, and Pamela Adams and husband Mark, Windsor, VA. She leaves a very special uncle, Robert Jones Sr. and his wife Diane, Cato, NY; an aunt, Patricia Moran, New Hartford; and cousins, Robert Jones, Jr., AZ, Erik Jones and Douglas Jones both of Rochester, Laura Eannace (Ralph), Utica, Jennifer Zink (Scott), Ilion, and Robert, Cheryl and Michael Moran, all of Syracuse. Also surviving is her former husband, Arthur Briggs, his wife Heather and their two children; along with many nieces and nephews in her extended family...

Interment will be in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen, NY, at the convenience of the family.
