He attended Cathedral Preparatory School then served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1974 from the City of Erie Police Department. He then worked as a salesman for Hubblle Supply. He enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Kowalczyk, a brother-in-law, Kenneth York (d 12/30/2011 age 63) and his former wives, Theresa Miraszek and Marjorie Kowalczyk Miraszek.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Mather Miraszek, eight children, Jay Miraszek and his wife, Donna, Bryan Miraszek and his wife, Carmen all of Erie, Phil Kowalczyk and his wife, Cathy of West Springfield, Margaret Smoller and her husband, Stan of Indianapolis, IN, Melissa Taylor and her husband, Eric, Brenda Tupitza and her husband, Tim all of Erie, and Scott Dentler and his wife, Belinda of Fairview. A sister, Gayle York of New Port Richie, FL., many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
