Bernita was born in Fort Worth, Texas to her parents Walter and Katie Douglass in 1923. She attended Oakland High School and graduated in 1941. She married her husband Eldon Hadley in October of 1943. Bernita worked as an LVN and enjoyed her job working at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. She and Eldon owned a small farm in Turlock where they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren when they visited. Bernita was a member of Crossroads Church in Turlock. She loved to travel and enjoyed photography and flowers.

She is survived by her children Carol, Gloria and Joseph; sister Rena; two nieces; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friends Dick and Vivigin, whom they were friends with for over 60 years and reside at Covenant Village. She is preceded in death by her husband Eldon Hadley, sister Tympell and brother Ernie Douglass.
