MUSCATINE, Iowa--Daryl Keith O'Brien, 57, of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Carrington Place.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Casket bearers will be Kevin Lucas, Doug Swailes, Dan Wingerter, Bob Kruse, Mike Spaulding and Ethan Everhart. Honorary bearers will be Larry Terry, Charles "Bub" Lewis, Doug Martin, Tommy Lasser, Lloyd Havemann, John Lee, and Travis Mueller. Burial will take place in Illinois City Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at The Getaway formerly the Eagles Lodge on Highway 22.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Daryl's name.

Daryl was born on June 14, 1956, in Muscatine, the son of Eugene H. and Twyla Dusenberry O'Brien. Daryl was a graduate of Muscatine Hugh School.

He had been employed by AllSteel and HNI for 19 years before going to work for RJK Incorporated as a fulltime contract employee for G.P.C. for four years.

Daryl was a member of the N.R.A., National Turkey Federation, ABATE, Shooting Stars Gun Range and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, fireworks, the Blues Festival, and has proudly cared for his mother ever since his father died in 2008.

Daryl will be deeply missed by his son, Nickolas O'Brien of Muscatine; his mother, Twyla O'Brien of Muscatine; siblings, David O'Brien of Muscatine, Patti Dean and husband, Richard, of Omaha, Nebraska, Doug O'Brien and wife, Laura, of Muscatine, Reynea O'Brien and friend, John Collins, of Muscatine, and Shelly Haynes and husband, Tom, of Fruitland; an aunt, Odetta Lewis of Fruitland; a special friend, Sheila Erickson of Muscatine; nine nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and nephews.

Daryl was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Gary O'Brien; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
