Nancy Virginia Jensen Evanson Mismash, 81, died peacefully at home on November 16, 2013. She was born on February 18, 1932 in Duluth. She was a graduate of Duluth Central High School and the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

Nancy taught Physical Education at Proctor High School and at Campton Elementary School in Silver Bay. She also coached volleyball and was a referee at Kelley High School.

For the past 58 years, an important part of Nancy's life and legacy was being an active member of Sychar Lutheran Church. She served on many boards, sang in the choir, and was the director of the handbell choir and children's choirs. She was also a member of the Singing Moms and North Shore Voices. Nancy was an avid reader, loved to hike, ski, and bake, and was known for her kransekake and blueberry pies.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsa Jensen; her first husband, Don Evanson; brothers, John, Don, and Bob Jensen; stepson, Paul Mismash; and niece Carol Jensen.

Nancy is survived by her husband Fred, of Silver Bay; children Cindy (Barry) Carlson of Northfield, Tim (Sandy) Evanson of Shoreview, and Sarah (Mark) Nelson of Stillwater; stepchildren Sheila Mismash (Steve Misvaer) of Inver Grove Heights, and John David (Angie) Mismash of Esko; brother Albert (June) Jensen of Duluth, and sister Elsa (Dharma) Sreenivasam of St Paul; grandchildren Bjorn, Hans and Anders Carlson, Natalie and Dan Evanson, Stefan, Erik and Anya Nelson, and Nicole, Megan, and Jayden Mismash; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank St. Luke's Oncology and Radiology, St. Luke's Home and Health Care, St. Mary's Hospice, and her lifelong best friend, Donna Johnson for the wonderful loving care they provided.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until the 11 o'clock memorial service on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Interment will be in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery. Memorials to Sychar Lutheran Church.
