MRS. LAURA SMITH
Mrs. Laura R. Smith, age 69,
wife of Reece T. Smith, died
suddenly at her home in the
Kents Ridge section of West
Richlands early Monday morning.
Mrs. Smith was in excellent
health and death was unexpected.
She was born in Buchanan
County, the daughter of Jacob
M. and Cordell Compton Ratcliff.
Most of her life has been spent
in Buchanan and this part of
Tazewell County.
She is survived by her husband,
4 sons, W. J., and E. B., of
Oakwood, J. W., of Grundy, and
Ted, of Richlands, one daughter,
Mrs. Marinda Horton, of Richlands.
She is also survived by 3
brothers, 38 grandchildren, and
several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday at 1 P.M. in the
Layman's Chapel Rev. Singleton,
assisted by Rev. Peery Herndon,
officiated. Interment was in
Hankins cemetery. Farmer
Funeral Home was in charge.
