Services for Ben G. Clinton, 73, of 1300 Elk St., Rock Springs, were conducted Friday, Oct. 8 at the Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Richard Carlson officiated.
Burial was in Commerce, Texas.
Loy Arnoldi, Les Jones, Steven Rasmussen, James Harkins, Thomas C. Bodin and Elza Eversole served as pallbearers.
Jim Draycott, Harold Plew, Thomas Breeze and Buck Brown served as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Clinton died Wednesday, Oct. 5 in Jackson of injuries he sustained on Sunday, Sept. 12 while hunting near Granite Creek.
Mr. Clinton has been a resident of Rock Springs for the past 53 years. He was born Oct. 18, 1908 in Commerce, Texas the son of the late Walter A. and Lottie Claxton Clinton. He married the former Amelia Notar and was a retired coal miner and welder. Mr. Clinton was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, the V.F.W. Club, the American Legion Archie Hay Post 24, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 151 and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia of Rock Springs; one stepdaughter, Ramona of San Jose, Calif.; four brothers, John of Pasadena, Texas, Carl of Cumby, Texas, Walter of Newark, N.J. and Jimmy of New Orleans, La.; three sisters, Thelma Lytle of Cumby, Texas, Zula Fay Clinton of Commerce, Texas and Dorothy Sherrill of Pasadena, Texas; four grandsons, one granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Clinton was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.
