Born in Russell, 3 September 1787, son of Abraham and Elizabeth Johnson (Doolittle) Bradley

He married First, Hepzibah Dickinson on 10 May 1810, daughter of John and Dorothy (Scovil) Dickinson

They had 3 children (Livia, Mary Emily, and Dolly Maria)

Hepzibah died in Russell, on 14 February 1818.

Deacon Lyman married second 18 September 1818 in Russell, Dorcas Stedman Braman, daughter of John and Cynthia (Stedman) Braman.

They had 7 children (Elizabeth, Lyman, Addison, Adoniram, Francis, Almenus and George)

Lyman died 21 and Dorcas 22 March 1873, a day apart. They had a combined funeral. Their progeny and list of descendants was both numerous and impressive, as is illustrated below:

" Mr. Bradley was born in Russell, and with the exception of a few years spent in Palmer in his early life, always resided there. Although very retiring in his habits, he was highly esteemed and held a prominent position in society. He became a member of The Baptist Church when quite young, and for 25 years held the office of deacon.

His townsmen had honored him with offices of trust, but he almost invariably declined them, and always shrank from notoriety. He was scrupulously honest in all his dealings, even to such an extent as to be almost eccentric.

He was twice married, his first wife being a sister to Mr. Linas Dickinson of Springfield. His second wife was Miss Dorcas Braman to whom he was married about 55 years, and by whom he had seven children, six sons and one daughter. The daughter is the wife of Judge Allen of Palmer, and of the surviving sons, Sheriff Bradley of Springfield is the eldest, the next in age being Captain Bradley of Westfield.

Probably no residents in Russell were more beloved than Deacon Bradley and his wife, and their death has cast a gloom over the whole village."
