Dennis Russell Morgan

Dennis Russell Morgan 68, of Joplin, Missouri passed from this life on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at his home with his family at his side.

Dennis was born October 21, 1945 in Joplin, MO to the union of Russell and Maxine (Howerton) Morgan.

He was united in marriage to Sharon Kay (George) Morgan on July 17, 1971.

Dennis worked many jobs throughout the Empire District Company, last he worked as a lineman retiring after 32 years of service.

For the last thirteen years of retirement, Dennis has been spending time in South Texas fishing the Rio Grande. Dennis enjoyed fishing, golfing, and woodworking. He loved spending time outdoors and camping along the way.

Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Morgan; one sister, Dianna Morgan-Durham; one brother, Larry Morgan; one son, Lenny Morgan.

Survivors include his wife Sharon Morgan of 42 years; one daughter, Fannie Leger and husband Chad of Enterprise, AL; two sons, Matthew Morgan and wife Elizabeth of Joplin, MO, and Rusty Morgan of Arizona; grandchildren, Morgan Freeman, Mason Stone, Burgandie Leger, Patrick Morgan, Austin Morgan, Jadelyn Morgan, Marrisa Morgan, Lucas Morgan, Alyssa Cooper, Cody, Shelby, and Kaylee; along with many close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Forrest Park Baptist Church, Joplin, MO. Pastor John Swadley will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Friday, November 22, 2013 from 7:00-8:00 pm, at Forrest Park Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers family ask for memorial donations be made to Mission Joplin in care of Forrest Park Baptist Church.

Pallbearers for the service are Gary Castell, Luke Miller, Larry Broadwater, Bruce Smith, Dick Hasselbring, Joe Gerorge, Tommy George, Carl George, and Timmy George.
