Dr. Stanley Harold Becker, a dermatologist who practiced at Richmond Memorial Hospital for 19 years, died of kidney cancer Thursday in a local hospital. Dr. Becker, who also maintained a practice in Mechanicsville, was 51 and lived in Richmond.

A Richmond native, he attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., and was a 1967 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Richmond.

He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine in 1971. After an internship in pediatrics at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in Bronx, N.Y., he worked for the U.S. Public Health Service in Claremore, Okla.

Dr. Becker returned to Richmond in 1974 as a dermatology resident at MCV and began his practice at Richmond Memorial in 1977.

He was a member and former president of the Richmond Dermatological Society. He also was a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and the Medical Society of Virginia and had served on legislative committees of those groups.
Dr. Becker was a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a member of the American Medical Association. He was a member of Temple Beth El and the Richmond Jewish Community Center.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie Berman Becker; two daughters, Amy Debra Becker and Millie Sharon Becker; his parents, Mina and Herman Becker, all of Richmond; and a brother, Dr. Jerome Becker of Arlington.
