ALGOOD Funeral services for Mary Alice Netherton, 86, of Algood, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, at One Eleven Fellowship Church in Algood. Burial will follow in Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Friday, April 3, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Netherton died Thursday, April 2, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 22, 1922, in Algood to the late Granville Herbert and Winnie Harp West.
Mrs. Netherton was a 1939 graduate of Algood High School. She was a retired office manager/funeral director with Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home for more than 43 years. She also served as secretary to the Tennessee State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers for a number of years.
Mrs. Netherton was a member of One Eleven Fellowship Church and a former member of Algood United Methodist Church.
Her family includes a daughter and soninlaw, Amy and Joe Rector of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Lacey Chemsak and husband Nick of Nashville and Dallas Rector of Chattanooga; a greatgrandson, Madden Chemsak; and three sisters and a brotherinlaw, Georgia Allen and Mildred Simcox, both of Cookeville, and Frances and Bruce Roach of Algood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Joe Moore and Issac Vaden Netherton, and two brothers, L.B. and Earl West.
