Robert Avery Saugen was the youngest son, and sixth of seven children born to Alfred and Anna (Sathrum) Saugen. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps March 13, 1946. He was a POW for awhile and the US government declared him KIA. He eventually was released and was able to go back to MN.
He married Geraldine Marie Anderson with whom he had a son, Eric T., and a daughter, Heidi A.
