He first established a cigar making business, after which he added the news and stationery trade. He was a member of New Hope Lodge, F. and A.M., the Knights of Pythias and Giedox Lodge of Albany. He is survived by two daughters, Amelia and Rosa, both of Schenectady; six sons, Samuel of NYC and Maurice, Jacob, Alfred, Victor and Max Baum of Schenectady and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Amelia Baum of N.Y.C.
