Mildred Marie Kirchdoerfer, 88, of Hayward, WI, died Friday, November 14, 2003 at Hayward Nursing Home in Hayward, WI.

She was born April 30, 1915 in Bremer County, Iowa. She received her teaching certificate and taught for six years in rural schools in Iowa. On August 4, 1940 she was joined in marriage to O.A. Herbert Kirchdoerfer in Waverly, Iowa. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton, IA where she was president of the women`s group and the women`s conference. She also served as the district stewardship secretary and taught Sunday school for 20 years and vacation Bible school for three years. She served on the Zion Lutheran Church Council and the Evangelism Committee. In 1985, Mildred and Herbert moved to Hayward, WI where they were active members of the First Lutheran Church. Mildred established the food basket program at the church that is now `Operation Christmas`. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Clinton, IA and Hayward, WI.

Mildred is survived by three sons, Paul (Karen) Kirchdoerfer, Oak Forest, IL, Ronald (Darlene) Kirchdoerfer, Hayward, WI, Thomas (Diana) Kirchdoerfer, Oregon, WI; one daughter, Betty (Nels) Beckman, Hayward, WI; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2003, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home at 15896W Third St., Hayward, WI.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, Hayward, WI. Pastor Kathy Fullarton will be officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Tuesday, November 18, .
