Born to Hugh Tolden and Armittie Spears, Ruby was born in Mira, Louisiana, but lived most of her life in Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband J C Broadhurst. One of 13 children, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, one sister and her daughter-in-law.
She is survived by her beloved children, a son of Humble Texas and a daughter of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Great grand-children, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Ruby was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro, AR., and a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church in North Little Rock for over 55 years. She taught the 5-year old children's class at church for twenty years, sang in the choir for many years, was active in missions and played in the Ukulele band. She was a member of the Homemakers Club in North Little Rock, was secretary at Park Hill Elementary School, and began her work career as a telegraph operator with Missouri Pacific Railroad where she met her husband, JC. Many wonderful things could be said of Ruby, but the single important things are that she loved her Lord with all her heart, she loved and cared for her family, she loved her friends, and she prayed for them daily.
Entombment was in Rest Hills Mausoleum with Griffin Leggett/Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, Arkansas in charge. Local arrangements at First United Methodist Church Chapel in Jonesboro were by Emerson Funeral Home.
