DONNA MEREDITH MOORE
Mulhearn Funeral Home
West Monroe, LA

A Memorial Service for Donna Meredith Moore, 76, of Frisco, TX formerly of West Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday February 19, 2011 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00P.M.until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Donna was born on November 27, 1934 in Chatham, Louisiana to Pearl Chatham and James Monroe Meredith. She graduated from Chatham High School in 1953 then attended Louisiana Tech University, where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics Education in 1956. She received her Masters Degree from Louisiana State University over the course of the next several years. Donna was employed by LSU Extension Service in 1959 as an Assistant Home Demonstration Agent and continued her employment with the extension service for the next thirty two years. At the end of her tenure she held the position of Northeast Regional District Agent. Donna was an educator to both the children in 4-H Clubs as well as adult ages in the Home Economics field. She shared her considerable talents and knowledge with all in her professional and personal life. After retirement she spent her time doing the things she loved best including gardening, sewing, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She generously gave her time and talents by volunteering at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. In 2006 she moved to McKinney, TX to be with family and continued her volunteer work at McKinney Medical Center. The examples she set taught both the importance of self reliance and community. She had a keen sense of purpose that inspired those around her. If it could be built, grown, cooked, or sewn, she could do it. She was a good judge of character, understanding, forgiving, and a friend to many. Her inviting smile and bright eyes gave away her characteristic spunk, which, like her, will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Chatham, Charles Chatham, Monroe Meredith, Hilda Meredith; brothers, Robert Meredith and James Meredith and her son, Bruce Moore

Donna is survived by her sister, Juel Chappell; daughter, Paula Sartor and her husband, George; daughter-in-law, Beth Featherston; four granddaughters, Tracy Novak and her husband, Neal, Ashley Aguilar, Sydney Sartor and Gabby Featherston; one grandson, Brent Moore and his wife, Hillary; two great-granddaughters, Sadie Aguilar and Bailey Moore.

Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff and friends at Parkview Retirement, the caregivers with Approved Home Care as well as her team with Harris Hospice. Your very caring nature was a true blessing to our mom.

Visitation will be held from 5:00P.M.until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Louisiana 4-H Foundation through LSU Ag Center local offices. P.O. Box 25100 Baton Rouge, LA. 70894.
