Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial, with military honors by the American Legion Henry McKenna Post 651 and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9124, both of Oto, will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Oto. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. McKenna was born August 22, 1922, at Anthon, to Henry V. and Gladys (Ives). He grew up and attended school in the Oto area. He later joined the C.C.C. From there he went on to serve his country with the United States Army during WWII. He later worked at Armour Company as a meat inspector, moving to Colorado, and finally returning to Oto.
He was a member of the American Legion Henry McKenna Post 651 of Oto, which was named after his father, and a lifetime member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 9124, also of Oto.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James; an infant daughter, Mary Joan; and a brother, Francis.
