John, the third of five children of George Washington Ashley (1781-1857) and Sally Page (1799-1874) was born on 24 Jul 1824 at Broome, New York.[1] John married as her first husband Charlotte Rose Weed (1834-1878), the daughter of John and Phebe (Ashley) Weed on 22 November 1852 at Will Township, Will, Illinois.[2] There were no children from this union. John Hector Ashley died on 3 November 1853 in his year at Bonfield, and is buried in Bonfield Cemetery at Bonfield, Kankakee, Illinois.[3]
