Born in Portland to Boone Cason and Jessie McPheters. Dan graduated from Franklin High where he met the love of his life, Shirley. They married in 1943 and within their honeymoon week he was called into military service for the duration of WWII.

Dan was a born salesman. First, locally with Prudential Insurance and later with territories covering much of Washington and Oregon for B&B Auto Supply Co.

Dan is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley; daughters, Madeline Powell, Dianne Robb (Dave); sons, Bill (Kathy), Joe (Carrie); 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughters, Shirleen Dvorak and Kathleen Ollivant. He was blessed in his final years by caregivers, MaryEllen Pierce and Lumi Dragan. "Tell them, He loved Shirley." Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Willamette National Cemetery.
