Rev. John Anderson Rudisill was known as the "Builder of Churches" and oversaw the building of four sanctuaries including Trinity (current sanctuary, 2021), Daniels Evangelical Lutheran Church--Reepsville, and others. He also planted four Evangelical Lutheran Churches in the region. He went to join the Lord age 39 of typhus ministering to the sick and is interred alongside his lovely wife, Mary Alice Gilbert, organist, mother of four, and teacher at Wood Ridge Academy, Rev. Rudisill assisted in founding Wood Ridge Academy with his wife which educated many children until public schools were developed after 1900. Rev. John's older brother, Caleb, called up as a NC Junior Reserve in the Civil War, went to the Lord in the last Battle of Ft. Fisher (no individual marker) and his father, Absalom, was a Confederate soldier and POW. May God Bless the sacrifices of of this family for their church and country.
