Charles F. Judd was born at Solon, Ohio, on the 16th day of August, 1840, and died at the National Military home at Fort Riley, Kansas, February 12th, 1920, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 26 days.

He was the third child of a family of five children, born to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bennett Judd, all of whom have preceded him in death, with the exception of Ervin Judd, who resides at Mechanicsville, Iowa.

Mr. Judd grew to manhood at Solon, Ohio, and joined the army when his call came in '61. He served his enlistment and was mustered out as a sergeant. He then re-enlisted as a private and served throughout the war, his term of service being four years, three months and twenty-one days.

He came west at the close of the war and located in this vicinity, returning to Solon in the spring of 1871, where he was married to Miss Mary Carl, and they returned to this place very shortly afterward.

To this union ten children were born, six boys and four girls. His wife passed away March 7, 1904, and a daughter, Jennie Collins, about twenty-three years ago. Two girls also died in infancy. Those left to mourn his loss are Ervin and Harry of Peoria, Ill.; Vera of Mechanicsville; Charles of Davenport, and John, Oscar and Fred of Tipton.

The body was brought back to Tipton last Saturday and a short funeral service held at McCormick & Wills undertaking rooms on Sunday afternoon by Rev. J. N. Naly, after which the body was laid to rest in the family lot in Masonic cemetery.
