William Leonard Finch, 80 of Chipley, FL, went home to be with the Lord Fri, Nov 15, 2013, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital. William was born Oct 17, 1933 in Wausau, FL to Martin and Fannie (Hicks) Finch. A graduate of Vernon High School, William served in the US Navy, worked as a farmer, mechanic for Ford tractor and J. D. Swearingen, and was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge #39, active for 55 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Fannie Hicks Finch; loving wife, Betsy Finch; and daughter, Cindy Finch Dykes. He is survived by his son, Delane Finch and wife Diana of Wausau, FL; 2 brothers, Lenzie Finch of Wausau, FL, and James Finch and wife Tina of Wausau, FL; 2 sisters, Dorothy Smith and Alma Jean Nance, both of Chipley, FL; grandchildren, William Finch, Thomas Finch and wife Melissa, Waylon Dykes and wife Kim and Tiffany Adams and husband B. J.; and great-grandchildren, Ian, Natalie, Brody and Dylan.
Services were held at 11 am Tue, Nov 19, 2013 at Wausau Assembly of God Church in Wausau, with Revs. Troy Lee Walsingham, Carlos Finch, and Ronnie Gene Hagan officiating. Interment followed in the Wausau Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Military Honors. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley is directing. The family received friends from 6-8 pm Mon, Nov 18, 2013 at Wausau Assembly of God Church.
