Mr. James Hamilton Richey Jr., 90, widower of Cornelia Robinson Floyd Richey, of Emerald Gardens and formerly of 512 Folkstone Circle, Augusta GA, died November 14, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood SC. Graveside at Greenwood Cemetery, Chattanooga TN. Mr. Richey, a native of
Chattanooga TN, lived in Augusta GA, from 1951-2011. He was retired from the Signal School, Fort Gordon GA, as Chief Instructor, Avionics Department. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa,Italy, France, Austria and Germany and received four battle stars and one arrow head for the invasion of France. He was an original organizer and former president of Concerned Citizens for Fair Taxation. He was a member of Pine View Baptist Church and a former member, deacon, Chairman of the Finance Committee and former administrative assistant of Baker Woods Baptist Church and former member, deacon and Chairman of the Finance
Committee of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Ernest Hamilton Richey (Barbara), Greenwood SC; a stepson, John Randal Floyd (Vicki), Martinez GA; a grandson, Jonathan H. Richey; two granddaughters, Kimberly I. Richey (Alex Filler) and Lydia J. Richey; five step-granddaughters, Lisa Floyd, Michelle Ennis, Pamela Duncan, Mary Rylander and Laura Hamilton; and several cousins. Mr. Richey was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Adams Richey. Platt's Funeral Home, Augusta GA.
