He was a veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa,Italy, France, Austria and Germany and received four battle stars and one arrow head for the invasion of France. He was an original organizer and former president of Concerned Citizens for Fair Taxation. He was a member of Pine View Baptist Church and a former member, deacon, Chairman of the Finance Committee and former administrative assistant of Baker Woods Baptist Church and former member, deacon and Chairman of the Finance
Committee of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Ernest Hamilton Richey (Barbara), Greenwood SC; a stepson, John Randal Floyd (Vicki), Martinez GA; a grandson, Jonathan H. Richey; two granddaughters, Kimberly I. Richey (Alex Filler) and Lydia J. Richey; five step-granddaughters, Lisa Floyd, Michelle Ennis, Pamela Duncan, Mary Rylander and Laura Hamilton; and several cousins.
