Mr. Allen was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was the son of Scott W. and Isabel M. Allen. He attended Marist High School and was a graduate of the University of Virginia and a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a veteran of World War II.
Although he grew up and raised his family in Atlanta, he had a great love for the warm weather of Florida and retired to John's Island, Vero Beach, Florida after selling his manufacturing business.
Mr. Allen was a member of the Peachtree Golf Club, Capital City Club, and the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a member of John's Island Club and Windsor Club in Vero Beach, Florida.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Millicent W. Allen, and his two children, Anne Allen Cheatham of Center Valley, California and Calvin R. Allen, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia. He was father to Walter E. DuPre, Norman B. DuPre, and Susan DuPre Midis of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. John R. DuPre of Griffin, Georgia, and Marie DuPre Masterson of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild in Atlanta, Griffin, Raleigh, Encinitas, and Nashville.
Graveside services at 12 o'clock, Wednesday, November 13th, Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia, Reverend Alfred Sawyer officiating.
