Jean was born in Streeter, ND, on October 22, 1942, the daughter of Henry A. and Katherine "Katie" (Lachenmeier) Becker. After graduating from Streeter High School, she worked for the State of North Dakota and continued most of her career in various executive administrative capacities for the State of South Dakota before retiring in the year 2000. Following her retirement and 30 plus years, and numerous memories on the river with life-long friendships in Pierre, SD; she moved with her husband of 51 years to Sun Lakes, AZ; then spending their time between Sun Lakes, AZ, Pierre, SD, Bismarck, ND, and Minneapolis, MN; all in order to maintain her powerful and innate ability to keep her family and friends close to her and each other, continuing to create shining and delightful memories with all who loved her. Jean was indeed the glue that kept her family together.
Family was always the center of Jean's life and heart. On August 12, 1962, Jean married her much-loved soul mate, Clifferd (Cliff) Wagner; they had two children, Monte and Marcie. Jean's entire life revolved around love for her family, extended family and friends. She was an incredible loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. Her loving and welcoming spirit will be missed by all who loved her.
Jean is survived by her husband, Cliff, Sun Lakes, AZ; two children, Monte (Kathryn) Wagner, Chandler, AZ, and Marcie Wagner, Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren, Lyndon and Wyatt Engel, Annie and Abby Wagner, and Kristian Martinson; two brothers, Henry (Elentina), Napoleon, and Leonard (Joann), Bismarck; one sister, Eldena Rau, Bismarck; and her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine "Katie" and Henry Becker; four sisters, Agnes, Annie, Viola and Alice; and three brothers, Emil, Roland and Wilbert "Punch" Becker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hope United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 5432 44th Ave. SE, Napoleon, ND 58561-9738. This is a fund that was set up to care for the Becker Homestead Cemetery where Jean and many of her family members have been put to rest.
