Jorge Hernandez 'George' Aguel was born in or near Havana, Cuba to Jorge Juan Aguel Chaar (1912 Los Arabos, Matanzas, Cuba - 1971 ___, Boyeros, Cuba).. His mother's name may have been Estela or Stella, possibly Estela Hernandez Peraza (Peraza a remarried name).
His sister was Fara Estela Aguel (1938 Cuba - 2009 Las Vegas, NV). In Cuba she married Alfonso Cristobal. She died retaining her maiden name Aguel.
When George was very young he came to the United States looking for his mother. A record of his 1956 social security application proves he was in the United States when he was 16, maybe younger.
On December 27, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, he married Irma Leticia Escatell, b. ~1942. They had four daughters: Irma 'Isa', Martha, Fara and Laura. Following their divorce, his union with Yamileth produced a son George Edward Aguel.
George became a U.S. citizen on April 22, 1969 in Los Angeles.
As a successful entrepreneur, he owned a chain of La Adelita restaurant-bakeries and developed land he owned in southern California into horse ranches.
He died from complications of diabetes. He was survived by his sister Fara E., his four daughters, his sons Vicente Aguel and George E. Aguel, and no less than a dozen grandchildren.

During their marriage they also had large holdings in commercial property and residential property. After his passing in 2006 Jorge and Alba's only son, Vicente Aguel, an award- winning equestrian, manages all of their holdings in commercial and residential properties. Vicente Aguel married Brenda L. Meza (Brenda L. Aguel born in Los Angeles, Ca), licensed clinical mental health therapist. They decided to continue growing the family business and now focus their time on their commercial property holdings. With Vicente's vast knowledge and business sense and Brenda's background helping underprivileged communities, together they have organized various events helping intercity youth. Together, their philanthropic work has helped children all over the US, Mexico and Nicaragua.
