Robert William Gross son of James And Margaret Gross grew to manhood in Ashland, Nebraska. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1900 and worked in Omaha until 1906 when he went into the clothing business with his brother Frank at Eldora, Iowa, later moving to Geddes and Kadoka South Dakota. In 1911 he moved his stock of goods to Woonsocket where he continued in business till the time of his death.

In 1901 he was united in marriage to Elta Jones at Omaha, to this union three children were born, 2 sons and one daughter.

As a young boy he was baptized and united with the Methodist Church, to which faith he remained faithful. He was a member of the A.F. & A. M. Masonic Order and a Past Member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

He passed away at Memorial hospital after Suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. He reached the age of 76 years, 8 months and 19 days.

He leaves to mourn his wife and children, 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters, nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with the Rev. Stuart A. Parvin officiating. Burial was at Eventide Cemetery.
