According to Pay Receipts, he was in Montreal in Apr 1776, and Isle Aux Noix in Jun 1776. Joseph Basford of Cardigan, NH is on a list of members of the “Militia of the Regt. under the command of Col. Jon’th Chase,“ dated 30 Jul 1777 at Cornish, NH, who acknowledge the receipt of one months advance pay.
