Boardman, Savilla L. (6 JUL 1843 - 7 DEC 1909)
Died, at her home in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1909, Mrs. Savilla L. Boardman, of kidney and liver disease, aged 66 years, 5 months and 2 days.
Savilla L. Fults was born near Theresa Falls, N.Y., on July 6, 1843, removing with her parents to Olmsted Co., Minn., at an early age, where on Feb. 13, 1860, she was united in marriage with Ephraim Boardman. In Nov. 1872 she came to Clark County, being the first white woman to set foot on the homestead her husband had located, a portion which now comprises the location of the village of Thorp. Her she continued to reside until her death.
She is gone! Another name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our old settlers, and a solitary husband in the sunset of life, and a lonely home, are left to attest how sadly they will miss her. It must be so; these tender human ties cannot be severed without a pang. Yet in such a death there is really no cause for grief. Her life work was done, and well done. She had almost passed her golden wedding day and wearied with life's duties and cares, weary of suffering she lay down to rest.
She was the mother of eight children, three of whom survive: Anson, Mrs. W. J. Frank, and Melvin, all residing here. The deceased are: Owen, Frank and Laura, and two died in infancy. Her father, Joseph Fults, went to the California gold fields in 1859 and was never heard from afterward. Her mother, Mrs. Emaline Fults, died in this village on June 15, 1906. Besides her husband, Ephraim A. Boardman, and three children, she leaves four brothers, Alonzo, Austin, Elmer and Alden Fults, who reside in North Dakota.
The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. today from the residence.

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1909, the village of Thorp lost one of its most respected citizens and Clark County another one of its old pioneers, in the death of Mrs. Savilla Boardman, beloved wife of Ephraim A. Boardman, caused by kidney and liver disease.
