Jessie Bonner [née Lipscomb] Moore was born July 11, 1910 in Ninety Six, South Carolina, daughter of the late Eugene and Mamie Hearst Lipscomb. Mrs. Moore graduated from Winthrop College, and taught in the McColl-Fletcher schools. She was a faithful member of Main Street United Methodist Church, and a longtime member of the Carlisle Book Club. She also worked with Brownie and Girl Scouts for a number of years. "Miss Bonner" will be remembered with affection by many in the McColl area.
Surviving are her son, Dr. George "Jim" Gibson Moore Jr. and wife, Mary Tom, of McColl; daughter, Margaret Jo Pearce and husband, Pete, of Myrtle Beach; granddaughters, Dottie Love Farfone and husband, Scott, of Boone, N.C., Anne Pearce and husband, Jeff Maddox, of Columbia, Beth Bilderback and husband, Dan, of Columbia, Ruth Savinda of Columbia, and Toma Dees and husband, Douglas, of Blenheim; grandsons, Gibson Moore and Tripp Broome, both of McColl; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Gibson Moore Sr.; and her daughter, Myrtle Tatum Love.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in the Main Street United Methodist Church in McColl, with burial following in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., McColl, South Carolina 29570.
