On October 1, 1955, Jimmie was married to the former Caroline H. Brown and she survives in addition to his children, Judy & Ray Barnhart of Hudsonville, Donna & David Keena of Jenison and Kenneth & Diane Abbott of Caledonia, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and two brothers, Jerry & Susan Abbott of Grand Rapids and Bill & Jackie Abbott of Sand Lake.
Formerly of Wyoming, Michigan, Jimmie has been a resident of the Sheridan area since 1991. He was a member of the teamsters and retired from Georgia-Pacific after 34 years of service.
Funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Sheridan.
Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM; one hour prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial considerations can be made to the VFW Post 5065 Food Pantry. There will be envelopes available at the funeral home.
