Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie R. Sheppard were held Oct 3 at the Golden Congregational Church, Ryan, with burial in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester. Oluf Kngshaug, officiated at the services.
Mrs. Sheppard died October 1 in the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Manchester, after a brief illness. She was 84.
Carrie Rebecca Downs was born in Delaware County, on November 27, 1895. She was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Downs.
She married John F. Shepherd on June 24, 1914. After their marriage the couple farmed in Delaware County, and in 1957 retired farming and moved to Dundee. Mr. Sheppard died January 19, 1961 later Mrs. Shepherd moved to Hopkinton to make her home.
She was a member of the Golden Congregational Church of Ryan and the Hopkinton senior citizens group.
Mrs. Sheppard is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Thompson, Hopkinton, and Mrs. Don Becker, Higden, Ark. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
