Marjorie E. (Sill) Anderson, 94, of Minneapolis, died Friday (All Saints Day), Nov. 1, 2013, at Covenant Village of Golden Valley.

Marjorie Elaine was born to Raymond and Jessie Sill on Oct. 11, 1919, in Seattle, Wash. She was the third of four children, having one sister, Nan and two brothers, Raymond and Bob. Her mom was a nurse and her dad was a sheet-metal worker. Early on, the family moved to find work, living in St. Louis, Mo., Champagne, Ill., and in Olympia, Wash., before finally returning to Seattle. The Sill family loved the Lord and was active in the Green Lake Free Methodist Church in Seattle.

Music was very important in Sill family life. Marge played piano and loved to sing. While attending Ballard High School, she sang in several operettas, hoping to become a famous opera singer someday. Upon graduation from Ballard, she received a $60 scholarship to Seattle Pacific College where her musical tastes turned more to sacred music. In her freshman year there, she met Reuben Anderson when both sang in the A Cappella Choir. Upon graduation from SPC, Marjorie taught school in East Olympia ($100/month - teaching grades 1-3). She taught two more years, teaching kindergarten with as many as 38 children in one class.

Marge and Reuben dated for six years and were married on July 9, 1943, while Reuben was in seminary at North Park in Chicago. Four children - Karin, Wendell, Connie and Warren were born into the Anderson family. Reub and Marge served eight pastorates, from Illinois to Washington to California to Minnesota. Marge was a loving mother and grandmother and the quintessential pastor's wife, serving her family, the churches and supporting Reuben as need demanded.

The Andersons moved to Covenant Manor in 1991. After Reuben's death in 2000, Marge wrote,
"I await the day of glad reunion with him and many other loved ones when we'll be eternally together with our Lord and Savior. Until then, I want to be busy and active in letting the love of God shine from my life."

She is survived by her children, Karin (Stewart) Essen, Hurst, Texas; Wendell (Kathy) Anderson, St. Paul; and Warren (Rosemary) Anderson, Rochester; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. C. Reuben Anderson, daughter, Connie Johnson, parents, one sister and two brothers.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m., with visitation one-half hour prior at the
Covenant Village - Fellowship Center, 5800 St. Croix Ave. N., Golden Valley, MN. 55422. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery

Memorials are preferred to the Covenant Village of Golden Valley Benevolence Fund.
