Walter A. Parcetich Jr., Cedar Avenue, Sharon, passed away of natural causes at 4:10 a.m. Monday (11-11-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional
Health System after a brief illness. He was 80.

Mr. Parcetich was born Aug. 27, 1933, in Farrell, one of 13 children born to Walter A. Parcetich Sr. and Agnes Bicek Parcetich.

A lifelong area resident, he was a 1951 graduate of Farrell High School and attended New Castle School of Trades.

Mr. Parcetich was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict aboard the USS Henley.

He worked at the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant for 41 years and retired as a millwright at the plant's closing. Following retirement, Walter worked part time for the City of Sharon in its Parks and Recreation Department.

Walter was a former member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon, and belonged to Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. He was a charter member of the Notre Dame Eucharistic Adoration group.

Walter was an ardent Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, he was a constant presence at his grandchildren's school and sports-related activities. He loved his pets Coco, Murphy and Benjamin, who already miss him dearly.

His wife of 55 years, the former Patricia A. Flinn, whom he married April 19, 1958, survives at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael Parcetich, who died in infancy, and James "Mooch" Parcetich; and his sister, Gloria A. Parcetich.
