Former County Resident, Mrs. Barbara Parker Dies

Mrs. Barbara Parker of East Prairie, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Thuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Cairo, Illinois. She was 88 years old. She had been hospitalized for a month with blood poisoning and pneumonia but had recovered from the sickness. Death came from weakness and old age.

She was born September 6, 1870, near Charleston, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Carr. She was married to James H. Parker, who preceded her in death March 16, 1916. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Dogwood. She resided near Marble Hill for about 10 years moving to East Prairie two years ago.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fern Stillwell of St. Louis; thee sons, Ed Parker of Lutesville, Roy Parker of Scarcy, Ark., and Floyd Parker of East Prairie, 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Four children preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Rev. Mills in charge. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
