Charles Henry Bailey, 83, of Roanoke, died Saturday, November 9, 2013. Born in Bluefield, W.Va. June 18, 1930, to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston Bailey, Jr. (Margaret), he was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hillas Bailey. Charles was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and retired from the U. S. Navy and Roanoke City. Surviving are his daughters, Deborah Carol Roche and family, Barbara Elaine Doughton; sister, Dolores Rorrer, of Roanoke; niece and husband, Kimberly and Michael Separ, of Richmond; sister and husband, LaVerne and Robert Dillon, of Roanoke; brother and wife, Jim and Mina Bailey, of Florida; niece and God-Child, Jamilyn Bailey, of Florida.
His extended family members include stepdaughter, Mary Michael and husband, Fay Baker, of Georgia; stepgranddaughter and husband, Angela and Jeff Havens, their children, Bailey and Brock of Texas; sister-in-law, Rita Canary of Roanoke; special stepniece, Connie Rice, of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas G. Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Andrew's Diocesan Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's East Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to an organization of your choice.
