She was married 1st on August 5, 1939 in Jeffersonville, Twiggs County, Georgia to -- Bryant, and she was married 2nd on July 21, 1944 in Jeffersonville to Beckett Gladney Mitchell (1920–2004), the son of Robert Samuel Mitchell (1886–1937) and Zilda Eugenia (Gladney) Mitchell (1890–1975).

In Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee Irene died August 12, 1990 at the age of 67, and burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville.
