Duane received his education in the Arlington schools and later served in the 45th Infantry Division, of the Army during the Korean War and was serving on the front lines in Korea when the war ended. He married the former Patricia Groesbeck on February 20, 1960 in Bennington. In earlier years Duane was employed as Parts Manager at both the Bill Hogan and Hand Chevrolet dealerships in Bennington and Manchester. He later worked at Bennington Display and for several years at Bijur Lubricating until the time of his retirement. Duane was a life member of VFW Post 1332 in Bennington. He was an avid fan of stock car racing, trips to Lebanon Valley Speedway and watching NASCAR races. His main enjoyment was time spent with his family, and his dog Cody.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Harrington of Bennington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and John Adams of Mississippi and Beth and Pat Moffitt of Shaftsbury; two sons and daughters-in-law, Duane M. and Cindy Harrington and Wayne and Karen Harrrington, all of Bennington; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Harrington of Bennington and Philip Harrington of Manchester; a sister, Avis Archibald of North Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Duane was predeceased by a brother, Richard Harrington.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 1 p.m.. with the Reverend Robin Greene, officiating. Friends may call the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the service. Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.
