Russell P. Anderson, age 92 of Chisago City died on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at his residence.

Russell was born on January 7, 1921 in Center City to parents, Charles and Mary (Shoberg) Anderson. He attended grade school in Almelund and high school in North Branch. He also graduated from the Minnesota School of Business and later from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Business Administration. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in July 1942 and was comminishened in 1945. Russell served as a radioman in the early part of his enlistment and when discharged was an air traffic control officer on a aircraft carrier.

He married Elvina Sellman on October 15, 1949 and they had two children, a daughter, Beth and a son, Bruce. Russell started working at the Farmers State Bank of Almelund after graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1948. He together with his brother, Clifford bought a controlling interest in the bank in 1960 and served as president of the bank until he sold his bank stock in 1976 and retired.

Russell loved fishing, bowling, dancing, golfing and playing cribbage. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and great grandchildren. He was also involved with many activities throughout his life like serving with the Lions Club, Almelund Fire Dept., County Park Board and helping organize the Almelund Threshing Show. He led a Swedish History group at Green Acres Nursing Home for many years, delivered Meals on Wheels and sang with a barbershop choir and quartet. He also enjoyed his time with Elvina spending 20 years wintering in southern Texas.

Russell is survived by his wife, Elvina; daughter, Beth (Vern) Krebs of Blooming Prairie; son Bruce (Lynne Gertz) Anderson of Denver, CO; brother, Clifford (Betty) Anderson of Woodbury; grandchildren, Jacob (Iryna) Krebs of Seattle, WA; Andrew (Carolyn) Krebs of Eagan; Luke (Mary) Krebs of Phoenix, AZ; Eli (Nicole) Anderson and Jason Anderson both of Denver, CO; his three great grandchildren, Ian, Isaac and Brynn Krebs. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vernette.

Memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Fairview Hospice.

Visitation:
One hour prior to service at church on Saturday, November 16th.

Service:
Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16,2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund.

Cemetery:
Private family interment at church cemetery.
