CARY Joe Turskey, 96, of Cary, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Good Shepherd Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1914, in Evanston, to Thomas and Anna Turskey. He married Esther Lowe on Sept. 17, 1938. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2008. She preceded him in death.
He had a strong work ethic. He worked 35 years in the electrical department at the Chicago terminal for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He retired in 1975. He and Esther enjoyed many winters as snow birds in Florida.
He is survived by four children, David (Sharon) Turskey, Dennis (Virginia) Turskey, Don (Susie) Turskey and Barbara (Tony) Tabor; 10 grandchildren, Suzanne (Keith) Jones, Jeffrey (Susan) Turskey, Brian (Joan) Turskey, Brett (Dana) Turskey, Brad (Sonja) Turskey, Jill Turskey, Kara (Alan) Vaught, Robb Turskey, Cindy (Shawn) Lanham and Scott (Holly) Tabor; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gene (Jackie) Turskey.
The visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, until the 11 a.m. service at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary. Burial will be in Algonquin Cemetery..
