MINNIE GERTRUDE WOODS HOWELL 1880-1961
______________________________________________________________

Minnie Gertrude Woods Howell was remembered well by her niece, Mary Ellen Tyre Powell, as "Aunt Trudy". She spoiled her niece.

Aunt Trudy married a venerable old Confederate Veteran, Rev. Caleb W.P. Howell. They lived together as man and wife until his death at an advanced age in 1927. They had one daughter, Martha Gertrude Howell. Martha married in 1928 to Max Arnold.

When Caleb died, Max and Martha moved into Minnie's large house in Suwannee Co., FL. This family shows there in the 1930 census. This property was sold and the proceeds were used to move to Hernando, Citrus Co., FL in 1934.

By 1940, Max and Martha Howell Arnold had a large family: Mildred age 10, Abbie age 8, Annie age 6, Ruby age 3, and William age 1. Living with this family was Minnie Howell age 60, mother-in-law of the head of household, Max Arnold. Minnie reported that her father (Allen Woods) was born in Georgia and her mother (Louisa "Iggy" Bailey Woods) was born in Florida. This family reported living in the same location in 1935.

Max Arnold died in 1953 and is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness, Florida in the Howell Family Plot. Martha remarried to Merle Crabtree, who died in 1988. Martha died in 2008 and is buried next to her husband, Max Arnold.

Minnie Gertrude Woods Howell died April 13, 1961 and is buried on the south half of Lot 50, New Addition to Oak Ridge Cemetery.
