Herbert D. Ozbirn, 87, of Vina, Ala., died Jan. 2, 2008, at his residence. Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, and will continue until 1 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home chapel, Red Bay, Ala., with burial in Atwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Brother Jack Harder and Brother Mike Franklin.
He was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Franklin County, Ala., to Steve and Earl Taylor Ozbirn. He was a school bus driver for 50 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Ozbirn; a grandson, Shane Ozbirn; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Margaret Ozbirn, Vina, Ala.; three sons, Billy Ozbirn (Barbara), Tuscumbia, Ala., Johnny Ozbirn (Janet) and Timmy Ozbirn (Diane), all of Vina, Ala.; six grandchildren, Randy Ozbirn, Ricky Lee Ozbirn, Shannon Ozbirn, Shannon Ozbirn, Alicia Ozbirn, Johnathon Ozbirn and Adam Ozbirn; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Ozbirn, Tate Ozbirn and Connor Ozbirn.
Pallbearers will be J.T. Miller, David Humphres, Lowell Ozbirn, Danny Covington, Bud Davidson and Clifton Franklin.
