A native of Elberton, GA, Mr. Anderson had lived most of his life in the Augusta area and was a retired Welder from Inglett Company. He was a proud Army veteran who spent 34 months overseas during World War II with the 82nd Airborne Division, nicknamed by the Germans as "The Devils in Baggy Pants". He fought at Utah Beach, Normandy and in operation "Market Garden", about which the movie "A Bridge Too Far" was based. He received numerous medals and comendations to include six bronze stars for the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Neptune as a part of D-Day. He was President of the Augusta Motorcycle Club and Flagman at a local track for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
