Leora Genevieve Winn, the daughter of Peter and Amelia Christensen Hansen, was born March 25, 1909. She was raised on the family farm near Dickens, IA, where she attended country schools. After graduating from Ruthven High School in 1927, she attended Iowa State Teachers College, now UNI, in Cedar Falls, IA.

Leora married Dale Winn on June 9, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church, in Ruthven, IA. After her marriage they lived on the family farm west of Spencer where she lived until she was 99 years old. She moved to Riverview Terrace in 2008. In July of 2010 she moved to St. Luke's Nursing Home in Spencer, IA.

Leora was a teacher for 10 years, teaching at Freeman Center School and Freeman Springdale School. During this time she was a Sunday school teacher at Zion Lutheran Church, in Ruthven, IA. She belonged to the Riverton Township Ideal Club, she was a 4-H leader, and a Clay County Farm Bureau member. She was a long time member of the First Congregational Church, in Spencer, IA, where she was involved in the Women's Fellowship. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and her many cousins.

Leora passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Monday, February 7, at the age of 101. She is preceded in death by her husband Dale; her parents; 2 brothers, Harold and Leonard Hansen; a sister, Ruth Logan; and an infant sister, Norma.

Left to cherish her memory are 2 daughters, Shery (Jon) Harrold, of Spencer, IA and Permilla (Dennis) Diamond, of Humboldt, MN; 4 grandchildren, Lisa (Eric) Helland, of Divide, CO, Joell Diamond, of Fargo, ND, James (Mary) Diamond, of Lancaster, MN, and Ben Diamond, of Hallock, MN; 6 great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Christopher Helland, Megan Roaldson, Brady, Shelby and Ty Diamond; a sister, Evelyn Gelino, of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hansen, of Spencer, IA; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In Lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial to First Congregational Church of Spencer, or Spencer Hospital Greatest Need Fund.

SERVICES
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 12, at 2:00 P.M. at First Congregational Church in Spencer
