On 18 September 1901 he married Cora Louise Lightbourn/Lightbown (bSep 1878). Their known Children are:

Edwin S. Potter, aged 86 years for many years a resident of Wellsboro, died September 3, 1951, at his home in Arden, Delaware. He was born in Wellsboro a son of Mr and Mrs Jerome Potter, and lived here during his early manhood. He was a brother of the late Mrs Thomas Crichton. He had lately retired as an executive of the American Tuberculosis Society in Washington, DC, had been a newspaper man and was co-founder, with the late George D. Mitchell, of the Pathfinder, Washington periodical. He was a graduate of Cornell University. He is survived by his wife, Cora, one daughter, Mrs C. C. Cook of Holyoke, Mass; one son, Lloyd of Philadelphia and four grandchildren.
